Dr. David Eibling, MD, surgeon from Veterans Administration in Pittsburgh  will present his views on the challenges that emerge once EMRs are implemented.  Risk of not finding the right information or misusing information increases as users proficiency in using EMR varies.  Frustration in searching through hundreds of encounters to find the information needed emerges. Dr. Eibling has been working with a team designing and testing tools that will simplify clinicians access to information and therefore contribute to minimize errors due to inadequate use of information.

Alberta Guy, RN, BSN, Senior Healthcare Systems Consultant will identify and lead a participant discussion on the challenges and opportunities faced by nursing professionals as EMRs are fully implemented.   Participants in the seminar will be encouraged to comment and contribute to the issues identified.
