Event Description

HIMSS congratulates those eligible providers who have successfully attested by demonstrating Meaningful Use of their EHR’s. During this in-person, dinner event, experts will address the required Meaningful Use criteria and provide you with the resources, tools, guidance, and the practical know-how to continue on a successful path towards achieving Meaningful Use Stage 2 criteria and beyond. During this event, our experts will provide an overview of Meaningful Use criteria, as well as an in-depth discussion on successful patient engagement activities. The evening will conclude with a panel discussion on other Meaningful Use initiatives featuring local subject matter experts.

6:45 - 7:30 Session #1 - Overview of Meaningful Use Requirements

Session One Description:

Early adopters of Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology has provided the opportunity for both eligible providers (EPs) and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to participate in the CMS EHR Medicare or Medicaid Incentive program. Many of these healthcare providers have recognized financial benefits and value from achieving Stage 1 Meaningful Use (MU) and attesting for corresponding EHR incentives. This session will provide an overview of the current program requirements and updates published as of the August 2014 final rule, as well as afford participants with the knowledge necessary to achieve the EHR Incentive Program requirements.

7:30 - 8:15 Session #2 - Physician and Patient Engagement

Session Two Description:

Multiple forces for change in patient readiness to actively engage in their healthcare present many challenges for providers and other clinicians. During this session, subject matter experts will identify all of the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements associated with increasing patient engagement and awareness and the technologies that support those initiatives. In addition, attendees will gain insight into how to overcome barriers to increase patient engagement and successfully meet Meaningful Use requirements.

8:15 - 8:45 Session #3 - EHR Meaningful Use Initiatives: A Panel Discussion Focusing on Best Practices

Session Three Description:

During the Panel Discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive discussion with local subject matter experts or HIMSS staff currently working on EHR Meaningful Use initiatives and share lessons learned and best practices regarding increasing patient engagement, electronic exchange of clinical data for transitions of care and public health reporting, patient privacy and data security. Local experts within each community will be invited to participate on this panel discussion.
